Puzzle Pieces

What a Great Time to Hire!

Business meetings, conferences, networking groups, and basically any conversation around the topic of work had one common denominator before the pandemic: how do we find and hire talent? Why has this question now taken a backseat? When the dust settles the question will prevail once again.

Over 36 million people have filed for unemployment since the pandemic began and we may be looking at even more to come. There are great people in that 36 million that just a few short weeks ago were unavailable to you. What’s more important to a business than its people? I would argue that even if things remain difficult for some time, which is likely to happen, what better way to navigate through turbulent times than with the best people on board?!

Only you know if hiring can be done responsibly right now. This is just to serve as a reminder that two short months ago the main pain point in your business was finding and keeping talent. Once things return to some normalcy, finding talent will once again become most businesses’ biggest challenge. One can argue that this might be a once-in-a-lifetime shot at getting the right people onto your team. After the housing bubble of 2008, many hesitated to act on an opportunity of a lifetime to purchase real estate at all-time low prices. Those that saw beyond the crisis, were able to get the deal of a lifetime! Maybe today’s “deal” is recruiting talent that wasn’t available a few months ago. Can you see past tomorrow? What will you say in 2030? What did you do for your business during the pandemic of 2020? Did you capitalize on the window of available talent that presented itself?
